That was a great listen and dove-tails nicely with The Technological Republic from AC Karp. I wish more authors would spend more time on the difference in attitudes between Americans and our competitors (adversaries is just too loaded). Namely, they want to come up, and for many Americans, we’ve already won so any change can only be for the worse.
I’m about a third of the way through, but I’m really enjoying the dichotomy between our tech workers being willing to work for companies that systematically mine our data and consumption for profit but the same workers being unwilling to work to support the national security systems that allows us to build the private companies in the first place. I’m left wondering if some of the pushback against AI being used in defense (for example ChatGPT being used to support Special Operations planning) isn’t just another example of Russia doing a large amount of social engineering to hold the western world back.

Agree completely. Have a copy of The Tech Republic on my desk but haven’t read yet - what was your favorite part?
